Understanding EIN for Mobile Pay Tax Information

When applying for Mobile Pay services, you have the option to convert or apply using either your Social Security Number (SSN) or an Employer Identification Number (EIN). Here's what you need to know:

1. SSN vs. EIN:

  • When signing up for Mobile Pay, you'll have the choice to use your SSN or EIN for tax identification purposes.

  • We may require a SS4 Letter for Business verification.

2. Tax Reporting Threshold:

  • Barbers who process over $20,000 in transactions via Mobile Pay will have their tax information shared with the IRS.

  • This threshold triggers the requirement for tax reporting to ensure compliance with IRS regulations.

3. 1099 Forms from Stripe:

  • Stripe, the platform facilitating Mobile Pay services, provides 1099 forms to barbers who meet the income reporting threshold.

  • 1099 forms will be distributed both manually and virtually via email for convenience.

    • Ensure your contact information is up-to-date to receive these important documents promptly.

5. Income Reports for Barbers Below Threshold:

  • Barbers who do not reach the $20,000 income threshold will still have access to income reports.

  • These reports can be utilized to accurately fill out a 1099 form, if necessary, for tax reporting purposes.

By understanding the options and requirements related to SSN, EIN, income thresholds, and tax reporting, barbers can effectively manage their tax obligations when using Mobile Pay services. Stay informed, stay compliant, and make the most out of your Mobile Pay experience.
