Manage Your Calendar

How to Block time, Open additional availability, or add a New Appointment from the Calendar's ➕ menu.

Block Time, Open Availability, and Add Appointments

Your Calendar helps you manage your availability and keep your schedule organized. Whether you need to block time off, open additional availability, or add an appointment that was booked outside theCut, you can do it all from your Calendar.

Before You Begin

From your Calendar, tap the button in the top-right corner.

You'll see three options:

Option

Use It To

Block

Make time unavailable for bookings.

Open

Make additional time available for clients to book.

New Appointment

Add an appointment directly to your Calendar.

💡 Tip: If you're trying to change when clients can or can't book you, make those changes from your Settings tab.

Block Time

Use Block anytime you're unavailable and don't want clients booking appointments.

Common reasons to block time include:

  • Lunch or breaks

  • Personal appointments

  • Vacation

  • Family commitments

  • Another job

  • Time off

How to Block Time

  1. Open your Calendar.

  2. Tap the button.

  3. Select Block.

  4. Choose the date and time.

  5. Save your changes.

The selected time will immediately become unavailable for booking.

⚠️ Important: Blocking time affects your availability to clients. Double-check the date and times before saving so you don't accidentally close time you intended to leave available for bookings.

Open Availability

Use Open when you'd like to make additional time available for clients to book.

This is useful if you've decided to extend your hours or have extra availability in your schedule.

How to Open Time

  1. Open your Calendar.

  2. Tap the button.

  3. Select Open.

  4. Choose the date and time.

  5. Save your changes.

Clients will immediately be able to book during the newly opened timeframe.

💡 Business Tip: Opening extra availability can be useful when you're trying to fill your schedule. If you add last-minute openings, consider letting your clients know through social media or your client communication tools.

Add a New Appointment

If a client books with you outside theCut, you can manually add the appointment to your Calendar.

This helps keep your schedule accurate and prevents someone else from booking that same time.

How to Add an Appointment

  1. Open your Calendar.

  2. Tap the button.

  3. Select New Appointment.

  4. Enter the appointment details.

  5. Save the appointment.

The appointment will immediately appear on your Calendar.

💡 Tip: Add appointments to your Calendar as soon as they're scheduled; even when the client didn't book through the app. Keeping your appointments in one place helps you maintain an accurate schedule and prevents that time from being booked by someone else.

What Happens Next?

After you save a manually created appointment, your client will receive a text message with a link to their appointment.

They can use the link to:

  • View their appointment details

  • Access their appointment from any device

  • Stay informed about their upcoming visit

If Your Client Doesn't Have a theCut Account

If your client isn't already using theCut, they can use the appointment link to:

  • Create a theCut account

  • Add the appointment to their profile

  • Book future appointments with you more easily

This makes manually created appointments a great opportunity to introduce existing clients to theCut and encourage future bookings through your profile.

Good to Know

Blocking Time Affects Your Availability

Before saving a blocked timeframe, double-check the date and time.

Blocked time immediately becomes unavailable for booking.

Use All-Day or Recurring Blocks

Need to block the same time every week?

Use the All Day or Repeat options to create recurring blocks for:

  • Weekly days off

  • Lunch breaks

  • School

  • Another job

  • Regular appointments

Recurring blocks help keep your schedule accurate without having to update it every week.

Best Practices

Keep your Calendar up to date by:

  • Blocking time as soon as you know you're unavailable.

  • Opening additional availability when your schedule changes.

  • Adding appointments booked outside theCut immediately.

  • Reviewing your schedule daily to avoid booking conflicts.

An accurate Calendar helps clients book with confidence and keeps your day running smoothly.
