Appointment Policies & Etiquette

Overview of cancellation/no-show policies, rescheduling, lateness, no-shows, messaging, and when to contact Support.

What to Know Before, During, and After Your Appointment

A smooth appointment starts with knowing what to expect.

Before you book, take a moment to review your barber's policies, appointment details, and availability. If something changes, communicating early can help both you and your barber stay on the same page.

Here's what to know.

Before You Book

Review the Barber's Policies

Barbers can set their own Cancellation and No-Show Policies for eligible appointments.

You'll see the applicable policy during the booking process before confirming your appointment.

Take a moment to review it so you understand:

  • When you can cancel without a fee

  • What happens if you cancel late

  • What happens if you don't show up

  • Any fee that may apply

By completing your booking, you're agreeing to the policies shown for that appointment.

💡 Tip: Policies can vary by barber. Don't assume the policy from your last appointment applies when booking someone new.

If You Need to Cancel

Plans change. If you can't make your appointment, cancel it as soon as you know you won't be able to attend.

Depending on the barber's policy and the timing of your cancellation, a cancellation fee may apply.

Cancellation fees are not automatically charged. If an eligible fee applies, the barber must choose to charge it.

If You Need to Reschedule

If Reschedule is available for your appointment, you can use it to select another available time.

From your Appointment Details:

  1. Tap Reschedule.

  2. Review the available appointment times.

  3. Select your new time.

  4. Review the change.

  5. Confirm your reschedule.

Your Cancellation & No-Show Policy still applies after a reschedule — what happens depends on who makes the change.

If you reschedule within your barber's Cancellation & No-Show Policy window, you're prompted to create a new appointment for the new time. The original appointment remains on your barber's Calendar and is still subject to the cancellation or no-show fee if it's later cancelled or you don't show.

If your barber reschedules the appointment instead, your Cancellation & No-Show Policy is voided for that appointment. Since you may not have been able to work with the new time your barber selected, it wouldn't be fair to hold you to the original policy.

If You're Running Late

If you think you're going to be late, communicate with your barber as soon as possible.

Your barber may have another client scheduled immediately after you and may not be able to provide the full service if you arrive late.

Use Messaging from your Appointment Details to let them know what's happening.

Keep in mind that messaging your barber doesn't automatically change your appointment time or override their policies.

💡 Tip: A quick heads-up is helpful, but your barber will ultimately need to determine whether they can still accommodate the appointment.

If Your Barber Is Running Late

Sometimes schedules run behind.

If you've arrived and aren't sure about the status of your appointment, message your barber through theCut.

Give them a reasonable opportunity to respond and let you know what's happening.

If you're unable to reach your barber and believe there's an issue with your appointment, contact our Support team for help.

No-Shows

A no-show generally means you didn't arrive for your scheduled appointment and didn't cancel beforehand.

If your appointment is eligible under the barber's No-Show Policy, a fee may apply.

The exact policy that applies to your appointment is shown during booking.

⚠️ Important: A client must have an eligible Mobile Pay appointment for a Cancellation or No-Show fee to be charged.

Communicate Through Your Appointment

Need to ask your barber something?

Open your Appointment Details and use Messaging to communicate about your booking.

Messaging can be useful when:

  • You're running late

  • You have a question about your service

  • You need arrival instructions

  • Something about your appointment needs clarification

Keeping appointment-related communication in theCut also makes it easier to keep important information connected to the booking.

Respect the Time You've Booked

Appointment durations help barbers manage their entire day.

If you'd like to add or change a service, communicate with your barber rather than assuming they'll have enough time during the appointment.

They may be able to accommodate the change, but additional services or time aren't guaranteed.

The same goes for arriving early or late. Your scheduled appointment time is the time your barber has reserved for you.

A Better Appointment Works Both Ways

A great experience depends on communication and respect from everyone involved.

As a Client

  • Review policies before booking.

  • Arrive on time.

  • Communicate changes as early as possible.

  • Don't assume your barber can extend the appointment for additional services.

  • Cancel rather than simply not showing up.

As a Barber

Clients should also be able to expect:

  • Accurate availability

  • Clear service descriptions and pricing

  • Helpful arrival information

  • Timely communication when something changes

  • Professional and respectful service

Everyone's time matters.

When Should I Contact Support?

Most simple appointment questions can be handled directly between you and your barber.

Contact theCut Support when:

  • You can't resolve an appointment issue directly.

  • There's a payment issue you need help understanding.

  • You believe you were incorrectly charged.

  • You need to report inappropriate or concerning behavior.

  • Something about your appointment doesn't appear to be working correctly.

For serious conduct or safety concerns, you don't need to contact the barber first.
