How to Set Up Mobile Pay

Activate Payments and Complete Your Verification

Mobile Pay lets you accept client payments through theCut, protect appointments with Cancellation & No-Show policies, use Tap to Pay, and control how your earnings are deposited.

Before you can start accepting payments, you'll need to activate Payments and complete identity verification through Stripe, theCut's payment processor.

Verification helps confirm who's receiving payments and keeps payment processing secure.

Before You Begin

Have your personal and payment information nearby before starting. Depending on your account and business type, you may be asked for:

  • Your full legal name

  • Date of birth

  • Home address

  • Phone number

  • Email address

  • Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)

  • Bank account information

  • A government-issued photo ID

  • Business information, if you're registering as a company

Stripe may request additional information or verification depending on your application.

💡 Tip: Make sure the legal name and date of birth you enter match your government-issued ID. Mismatched information can prevent Stripe from verifying your identity.

Start Your Payment Setup

You may see an Activate Payments card on your Home dashboard if Payments haven't been activated yet.

  1. Tap Enable Payments from Home Screen or Settings tab > Payments

  2. Review the Payments features available through theCut.

  3. Tap Continue.

During setup, you'll see information about features including:

  • In-App Payments

  • Cancellation & No-Show Protection

  • Capital Financing

  • Scheduled & Instant Payouts

  • Tap to Pay

  • Tip Suggestions

  • Payment History

You'll also see the current processing fee before continuing.

Complete Verification With Stripe

theCut partners with Stripe to process payments and securely verify the information required to activate your account.

When you're ready to continue, tap Get Verified.

You'll then enter Stripe's verification flow.

Choose Your Business Type

Stripe will first ask how you're operating your business.

Available business types include:

  • Individual

  • Company

  • Nonprofit organization

If you haven't filed paperwork to register a separate business entity, Stripe indicates that Individual is likely the appropriate business type.

If you select Company, you'll also be asked to choose your business structure.

💡 Good to know: You don't need to create a company just to use Mobile Pay. Choose the option that accurately reflects how your business is legally structured.

Verify Your Personal Details

Next, Stripe will ask you to verify personal information associated with the account.

This may include your:

  • Legal name

  • Email address

  • Date of birth

  • SSN or ITIN

  • Other identifying information required for verification

Review the information carefully before continuing.

Stripe requires this information to verify your identity and meet payment-processing requirements.

Verify Your Identity

You may also be asked to complete identity verification using a government-issued photo ID.

Before starting, check the legal name and date of birth shown on the screen. Your ID should closely match the information you've provided.

Tap Start verification and follow Stripe's instructions.

Depending on the verification requested, Stripe may ask for additional documentation or identity checks before your account can be fully verified.

How Long Does Verification Take?

Some verifications may be completed quickly, while others can require additional review or documentation.

If Stripe asks for more information, follow the instructions shown during the verification process. Your Payments setup won't be complete until all required verification has been successfully submitted and approved.

After You're Verified

Once your payment account is successfully verified, you can finish setting up Mobile Pay and begin accepting eligible payments through theCut.

From there, you can manage your payment settings, transactions, deposit methods, and deposit schedule under Settings → Payments.

  • Your legal information should match the information shown on your government-issued identification.
