What is the 2026 Back to School Program?
The 2026 Back to School Program is an optional seasonal promotion available to eligible barbers on theCut.
Barbers who participate receive:
A 📚 Student Special service added to their profile
An "Offers $10 student discount" callout displayed on their profile in Search
Higher placement in Search results during the promotion
Participation is completely optional.
Program Timeline

August 31 | Last day the Student Special appears on barber profiles. |
September 1 | Student Special is removed from barber profiles and Search. Search placement returns to normal. |
September 20 | The Student Special is permanently removed from the platform. No new Student Special appointments can be booked after this date. Existing appointments remain on the barber's schedule. |

No. Participation is completely optional.

Eligible barbers enrolled by choosing Yes during the enrollment period.
Enrollment closed on July 13, 2026.
Can I join after July 13?
No.
Enrollment closed on July 13 to ensure a consistent experience throughout the promotion.
I declined the promotion. Can I join later?
No.
Once enrollment closed, no additional barbers could be added to the program.
Student Special Service
Participating barbers receive a new service on their profile.

Can I change the price?
No.
The promotional price is fixed at $10 for all participating barbers.
Can I rename the service or edit the description?
No.
The service name and description are locked for the duration of the promotion.
Can I change the duration?
Yes.
You may adjust the appointment duration to fit your schedule.
Changing the duration does not affect your Search placement.
Does the Student Special replace my other services?
No.
The Student Special is added alongside your existing services.
Search Placement
What does higher placement in Search mean?
From July 15 through August 31, participating barbers appear higher in Search results than they otherwise would.
Does higher placement guarantee more bookings?
No.
Higher visibility may increase exposure to new clients, but bookings are never guaranteed.
What do clients see?
Participating barber profiles display the following callout:

Who decides who qualifies?
Participating barbers determine who qualifies for the Student Special.
We recommend asking clients to bring a valid student ID.
Can I refuse the Student Special?
Yes.
If you cannot reasonably verify that a client qualifies as a student, you may decline the promotional price and instead charge your standard service price.
Can clients use the Student Special more than once?
There is no platform imposed limit.
Participating barbers decide how they apply the promotion to repeat clients.
Existing Student Discounts
I already offer a student discount. Should I keep both?
That's up to you.
However, we recommend removing duplicate student discount services during the promotion to avoid confusing clients.
Only the official 📚 Student Special receives higher placement in Search and the promotional profile callout.
Opting Out
Can I leave the program?
Yes.
Delete the Student Special service from your profile.
What happens if I delete the Student Special?
When you remove the Student Special:
Higher placement in Search ends immediately.
The promotional profile callout is removed.
Clients can no longer book the Student Special.
Appointments that were already booked using the Student Special remain on your schedule. Removing the service does not cancel or remove existing appointments. Participating barbers are expected to honor those existing bookings.
Can I rejoin later?
No.
Once you remove the Student Special, you cannot re-enroll in the promotion.
Additional FAQs
Can I limit the Student Special to certain days or hours?
No.
The Student Special follows your existing booking availability.
Can clients combine the Student Special with other discounts?
This is up to the participating barber.
If you choose to allow multiple discounts, they may be combined. Otherwise, they cannot.
What happens after September 20?
On September 20, the Student Special is permanently removed from the platform.
After that date:
The Student Special service is deleted.
No new Student Special appointments can be created.
Existing appointments booked before the service was removed remain on your schedule.
